Capturing Icons

The architecture, the art, the history and the bucolic setting draw people to Mineral Point. But it’s the people of Mineral Point who make the biggest impression. It’s not just the friendly shopkeepers and artists, but the everyday icons — the mailman, the pharmacist, the librarian — who give this town a depth of character that goes well beyond the typical tourist destination.

Lucky for us, Milwaukee Public Television recently captured some of our local icons for an episode of “Around the Corner with John McGivern.” This Monday everyone is invited to the Mineral Point Opera House to watch a preview of the show. Mr. McGivern will be on hand as well as many featured residents, who are probably anxious to see themselves on the big screen. If the promo linked at the beginning of this post is any indication, the whole event should be a hoot.

Doors open at 6:30 and the screening begins at 7:00 pm, Monday January 14, 2013. Admission is Free.
