This weekend visitors and pickers from all over the Midwest are heading to Mineral Point for the 23rd annual City-Wide Garage Sale.

According to organizer Chris Philipson of Berget’s Jewelers (257 High Street), when this event started in 1991 the map was nothing more than the iconic placemat from the Red Rooster Cafe, with dots added to indicate participating locations.

This year’s super-helpful detailed map shows 80 different locations and describes some of the treasures to be found.

A special addition to the weekend’s frenzy of bargains is the Shake Rag Alley garage sale at the old NAPA auto parts store at the Five Points intersection.  To highlight the addition of the Quonset Hut to the Shake Rag campus, they have invited the public to an “Open Hut” on Friday night, April 12, 2013, from 6-9pm.  All are welcome to tour the Quonset Hut, get a sneak peak at the exciting renovation plans and enjoy some light refreshments.

While the city-wide garage sale is an increasingly popular event for visitors, there are still a few rooms left in town in case you want to make a weekend of it!
