Aurora from Mineral Point

In case you missed the Aurora from Friday night, here is a video I made. Each frame of the movie is a 30-second exposure with my Canon XSi camera. This was captured from my backyard and also from a darker location just north of Mineral Point on Barreltown road. The orange glow is the city of Dodgeville to the North, while the green and purple is from the aurora. Visually, the colors were not as intense as the video and I didn’t notice the purple at all until I reviewed my camera’s pictures afterwards, but it was still nice to see the pale green glow and slowly moving columns of light.

More information about this aurora and other space events can be found at spaceweather.com
