Crazy Love

Apparently Valentine’s Day is expanding into a month-long holiday.

902603_10151598350023894_1641540528_oAt De la Pear (12 Fountain Street) they’re celebrating “30 Days of Love.” It’s been going on for a couple weeks and continues through Valentine’s weekend.  According to the new De la Pear Facebook page, this Saturday (February 1, 2014) Monica and Aaron Dunn (of Point Five) will be performing “background music with sounds of love!”  I’m not sure what that means, but it’s the Dunns, so you know it will be great.

And, if that’s not enough, Roland Sardeson — maker of frozen luminaries and little libraries — will be reciting “a twist on a Valentine’s Day poem during intermission.” I’m hoping that means Roland will once again don his straight-jacket (who else has a straight-jacket in their closet?) and recite Edgar Allen Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart. It’s a 10-minute, in-your-face performance you don’t want to miss. During Halloween, Roland gave a surprise performance at the Walker House. Here’s a clip:

OK, sometimes love can be deranged. But when you’re trying to fill an entire month of love, you have to cover all types.

Most visitors to Mineral Point, Wisconsin will say it’s a year-round romantic destination, but for the next few weeks it’s your place for crazy love.
