Go Nuts on Local Treasures Night – Tonight!

photo-143Tonight is the 3rd Annual Mineral Point Local Treasures Night.  Many businesses, including those listed below, will stay open until 8 PM or later to showcase uniquely local items.

Artful Apparel & More, 232 High Street: Artful Apparel is featuring hand-woven garments and accessories.

Bargain Nook, 242 High Street: Stop in for a great discount and come back coupons.

Bobbi Jo’s Interiors & Gift Boutique, 60 High Street: We will be featuring Farmhouse Recipes Soup Mixes. They are made in Wisconsin Innovation Kitchen by Hodan Center clients and employees. It is the mission of Hodan Center, Inc. to provide and promote opportunities for work and personal development so that persons with disabilities can achieve individual life goals.

Brewery Pottery, 276 Shake Rag Street: Brewery Pottery is featuring free clay ornament making from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Ornaments will be kiln-fired and ready to pick up at the Gallery Night on December 6th.

High Street Sweets, 124 High Street: We will open the hallway gallery to showcase more than a dozen specially created little canvases from your favorite local artists. These local treasures will be part of The Shake Rag Art Lottery scheduled for November 15th. In addition, High Street Sweets will feature locally made Amish Whoopie Pies.

Johnston Gallery, 245 High Street: Johnston Gallery will be serving local cheeses during the Local Treasures evening.

MP Dining Company, 20 Commerce Street: Chef Charlie Socher will prepare the following local treasures: Appetizer Flash-Grilled Iowa County Beef Tongue napped with bourbon-maple sauce; served atop crisp slaw of Napa cabbage, Granny Smith apple and wilted onion, Entree: Moussaka with Iowa County Fair Lamb.

Phoebe’s Nest, 145 High Street: Phoebe’s Nest will be open from 10 am to 9 pm. We will be featuring Judy Casper with her warm felted mittens, proceeds of which benefit the Iowa County Food Pantry. We will also feature local resident Becky Cook with her beautiful fabric creations – pillows and table runners.

The Mineral Point Collection, 151 High Street: The Cornish Corner will display a “TREASURE CHEST of New Celtic Jewelry” and OH SO MUCH FUN paper arts & rubber stamps will demonstrate & exhibit new ideas & techniques in both the afternoon and evening.

The Pear, 12 Fountain Street. Harriet Ridnour will be demonstrating how to make a rug hooked christmas ornament from 5 – 8 pm. We will offer finger food and hot apple cider while you browse the shop.

Theatre of Ballet Arts, 112 Fountain Street: Theatre of Ballet Arts will be having rehearsals for the Nutcracker ballet at the Southwest Academy of Ballet Arts Studio.

Sirius Sunlight Glass Studio, 218 High Street: Sirius Sunlight Glass Studio will again feature our beloved, homegrown black walnuts. Stop in to see and smell a black walnut fresh from the tree! See a Harry Nohr black walnut bowl, sample some of this year’s harvest and a homemade black walnut treat, and meet Willard’s Walnut People—–and anything else walnuty that we can think of.

Simply Scarfs, 154 High Street: “WHAT a TREASURE”. Featuring a one of a kind Hand-made QUILT. 30 years old – never used, queen Size, 90″ x 104″, reversible. A Silent Auction will be held on Saturday, November 1. Bidding starts at $100. Winner will be announced at 8 pm.

Wantoot, 236 High Street: Wantoot will present artwork by local treasure Sandra Peterson.

And, stop by Tony’s Tap to congratulate Mary Bossert on her retirement.

Should be a full night!  And, don’t forget to turn your clocks back an hour when you go to bed.
