A few months ago, Wisconsin Public Television visited Mineral Point to film a piece for Wisconsin Life about the school’s oak savannas and their primary caretaker, Mr. Don Hawkins.

They call the piece “Hawkins Prairie.”

Here’s a link.

Mineral Point is fortunate to have a citizen like Mr. Hawkins who is always giving back to the community, sharing his knowledge, and creating a lasting legacy in the beautiful oak savannas of the Mineral Point School District.

Check them out for yourself by walking through the savannas.  If you know some Mineral Point students, bring them along as your guides.
