Merry Christmas

Under yesterday’s “Simpsons’ Sky” we hiked the “Merry Christmas Mine Hill,” so-called because miners made a significant strike there on a Christmas day long, long ago.  You can park in the Pendarvis parking lot and enjoy the gradual climb up a wide-mown path through 43-acres of beautiful restored prairie.  The miners of old would surely not recognize the hill they once stripped and dug into.  While their badger-hole diggings are now covered with wild, native prairie plants some of their artifacts remain for hikers to see. Image
