Time to pull out the Pointer blue sweatshirts, gather on High Street, and cheer for our school as the they march in the annual Homecoming Parade.
Janice Pittz and Maxine Tibbits are this year’s parade marshals, and they will be joined by Pointers young and old, marching and playing music, and riding in floats and convertibles.
Last year, Leah Crubel captured our small town’s quintessential event perfectly.
Here’s this year’s schedule:
Thursday, Oct. 3: Parade down High Street begins at 6:15 p.m. Spirit rally follows at the football field, where the Homecoming Queen will be crowned. Candidates are Lexie Leonard, Paula Pittz, Tessa Wainwright and Beth Wood. The FFA alumni will be selling sandwiches, hot dogs and bottled water at Wayne’s Amoco before the parade and at the football field during the pep rally.
Friday, Oct. 4: Pointers play the Riverdale Chieftains at 7 p.m. Halftime will feature the high school band, directed by Matt Nevers, and the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and King.
Saturday, Oct. 5: Homecoming dance at the high school gym from 8 p.m. to midnight. The grand march begins at 8:30 p.m.
